Page content types
TYPO3 provides various content element types, organized into four groups. The type is selected when creating a content element and can be changed later if required.
Header
A heading without a text field. It is useful for structuring page sections when no accompanying body text is required.
Note
Use the Header element when you only need a heading.
Example: A section marker placed before an image gallery.
Text & Media
A heading with a text field and the option to include images, videos, or audio. This is the most versatile and commonly used content element.
Possible content includes:
- Heading and subheading
- Body text created with the Rich Text Editor
- Images (JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, WebP)
- Videos (YouTube or Vimeo via URL)
- Audio files (MP3, MP4, OGG, WebM)
Table
Creates a structured table using a guided wizard. Tables should be used exclusively to present tabular data, not for layout purposes.
Note
For multi-column layouts, use the Multi-Column Content feature instead.
File Links
Creates a list of file links for downloads (e.g., PDF documents). Files can be individually configured and labeled.
Group: Menu
Automatically generates lists of links to internal pages, either as a sitemap, a section index, or a manually selected page list.
Insert Records
Inserts an existing content element from another page without copying it. Changes made to the original are automatically reflected in all references.
Plugin (Insert Plugin)
Integrates extensions (plugins), for example:
- TUMvCard (business cards/contact cards)
- TUMcourses (course listings)
- News System
- TUM Member List
- Carousel (T3UP Carousel)
- iFrame with consent (GDPR-compliant)
