Scheduled publishing

With the time scheduling feature, you define the period during which a page is visible on the frontend. TYPO3 automatically shows and hides it - without any manual intervention.

What is time scheduling useful for?

  • Publish a page starting from a specific date (e.g., event announcement)
  • Automatically hide a page after a certain date (e.g., end of semester)
  • Combine both options to define a specific publication period

Note

Time scheduling works not only for pages but also for content elements.

Setting up time scheduling – step by step

  1. Open the page properties
    (Click the icon in the page tree → Edit)
  2. Switch to the Access tab
  3. Set the publish date:
    • Click the calendar icon
    • Select date and time
  4. Optionally set the expiration date:
    • Click the calendar icon next to “Expiration date”
    • Select date and time
  5. Save your changes

Important note about time settings

Days start at 00:00 (midnight)!

If a page should be visible for the entire day, set the expiration date to the next day at 00:00, not the same day.

Example:
A page should be visible throughout 15 July → Expiration date: 16 July, 00:00

Recognizing time-controlled pages

In the page tree, time-controlled pages are marked with a clock icon:

White clock iconTime window is active – page is visible
Red clock iconTime window expired – page is not visible

Time scheduling for content elements

The same mechanism also applies to individual content elements:

  1. Open a content element for editing
  2. Switch to the Access tab
  3. Set the publish date and/or expiration date
