Page tree

The page tree is located in the middle column of the backend. It displays the hierarchical structure of your website—all pages in their nesting, just as they also appear in the frontend menu.

Content

  • Basic principle
  • Choose page
  • Page types
  • Refreshing the page tree
  • Context menu
  • Filter page tree
  • Expand/collapse the page tree
  • Notes for editors

Basic principle

The page tree represents your website as a family tree:

Root
├── Home
│   ├── About us
│   ├── News
│   │   ├── News 2024
│   │   └── News 2025
│   └── Contact
└── Imprint

By clicking the arrow to the left of a page, you can expand or collapse its subpages.

Choose page

  • Click the page title to display the page’s content and subpages in the workspace.
  • Click the page icon to open a context menu with additional options (edit, hide, delete, etc.).

The icons to the left of the page title indicate the type and status of each page at a glance.

Page types

IconMeaningDescription
Standard page iconStandard pageAppears in the frontend menu and can contain content elements
Page icon (grayed out)Hidden pageNot visible to visitors
Page icon with a lineHidden in navigationAccessible via direct link but not shown in the menu
Arrow iconShortcut/redirectRedirects to another page
Folder iconFolderStores records (e.g., news), does not appear in the menu

Refreshing the page tree

If changes in the page tree are not immediately visible:

  • Click the refresh icon (circular arrow) at the top of the page tree
  • The page tree will reload and display all current pages

Context menu

Clicking the icon to the left of the page name opens a context menu. Depending on your permissions, the following options are available:

OptionFunction
EditOpen page properties
NewCreate a subpage
HideHide the page from the frontend
DeleteMove the page to the recycle bin
Cut/CopyMove or duplicate the page
PasteInsert the previously cut/copied page

Filter page tree

In version 14, the filter function in the page tree has been enhanced. You will find the search field at the top of the page tree. The filter options have been expanded, allowing you to filter more precisely by page types and properties than in version 12.

How to filter the page tree:

  • Click in the search field at the top of the page tree
  • Enter the page name or part of it
  • The page tree will then display only the matching pages

Expand/collapse the page tree

To create more space for the workspace:

  • Click the arrow in the top bar to show or hide the page tree
  • The page tree will remain in your chosen position, even when you switch modules

Notes for editors

Tip: Use the page tree filter if your website has many pages. Simply enter the first letters of the page name—the tree will filter instantly.

Important: Clicking the icon (on the left) opens the context menu. Clicking the page name (to the right of it) opens the page in the workspace. This is a common mistake for beginners.

Tip: A folder icon in the page tree means that this page does not appear in the frontend menu. Folders are used to store internal records (e.g., news articles).
