Requirement

For which contents?

The TYPO3 offering is available to the university's institutions for official content. Related topics should ideally be consolidated on a few central websites. This

• makes it easier for visitors to navigate your web presence and
• reduces administrative effort for editorial and IT: domain management (application, approval, DNS entry, server certificate), setting up and operating the web instances, permissions, maintenance of the mandatory content of a web presence, etc. 

Please check the following before applying for a new TYPO3 webpage:  

• can the content be integrated into an existing webpage?  
• are you dealing with internal announcements, appointments, information, and reports, or do you want to improve collaboration within your area or team? If so, the wiki software from ITSZ also offers suitable functions: https://wiki.tum.de.

Technical Implementation

For creating a new website, different technical solutions are possible:

• Content can either be integrated as an independent page structure into an existing website or
• as a standalone website within an existing TYPO3 instance, such as www.arc.ed.tum.de/ai/, or
• as a website with its own domain. 

TYPO3 websites with their own domain are typically only granted for new entities such as schools, integrative research centers, central institutes, etc. The integration of content into existing websites and the bundling of content into theme-specific websites takes priority. 

The setup of new TYPO3 websites will only occur after a thorough examination of the requirements!
